In most parts of the country, our kids are headed back to school for in-person classroom learning. After a challenging year of balancing, this is great news for most! We learned a lot about ourselves over the last year about our own adaptivity and how much we could get done via technology. While we should manage our expectations and understand that there will be some challenges, and we will find some efficiencies as we press forward, it is good to be back.
As we return to school, it’s also important to evaluate what this past year has (hopefully) taught us and keep these learnings in the front of our mind as we practice mindfulness. Are we more empathetic to colleagues with young kids who require more hands-on care? Are we sensitive to families who are struggling to make ends meet? Are we patient with others who are catching up on learning because online wasn’t easy in their home? My hope is that, as more vulnerabilities were highlighted during the pandemic, it inspired you to be more sensitive to the plight of the coworkers you encounter (in-person or virtually) each day. And then we can do the collective happy dance because we are back to school!

Our theme song is “We’re All in This Together” by the High School Musical cast and for you old schoolers the entire Grease soundtrack (because how can you pick only “Summer Nights,” so just sing the whole thing!)
